About GreenWatch
An impact-driven team of sustainable finance experts from academia and industry
Our Mission
To strengthen accountability in sustainability reporting and support more credible progress towards the global Sustainable Development Goals through greenwashing detection.
The most direct impact of greenwashing is that it distorts decision-making by obscuring whether sustainability claims reflect real progress.
This means that investors must then allocate capital based on incomplete or misleading information, weakening investor protection.
Why greenwashing detection is important
Through detection, GreenWatch provides assurance to investors, helping direct capital towards more credible and measurable sustainability outcomes.
In doing so, more meaningful progress is made towards the achievement of the SDGs.
Policy Momentum
Both the European Commission and the Irish Government have called for sustainable finance frameworks that discourage greenwashing and improve market transparency.
Missing Capability
Despite growing policy ambition, tools to detect and evaluate greenwashing across organisations and sustainability objectives remain limited. GreenWatch was developed to help close this gap.
